This Privacy Policy explains how Vaidik Panchanga (the "Service") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you access and use our website. The Service is operated by Vaidik Anusandhan Guthi, a Nepal-registered religious and research trust (the "Guthi", "we", "our", "us").

We recognize that information such as birth details and kundali-related data is sensitive and personal. We follow a principle of data minimization: we collect only what is necessary to provide core features. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We may obtain information in three ways: (i) information you provide directly, (ii) information stored and generated within your account through your usage, and (iii) limited technical information automatically received by our systems for security and operation.

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

• Identity and account details: name (if provided), email address, login credentials (password stored in hashed form).
• Birth details and astrology inputs: date/time/place of birth, gender (if required for calculations), and related inputs for kundali generation, matching, and muhurta calculations.
• Manual location settings: location selected manually to personalize Panchanga, Muhurta, and related calculations.
• Preferences: language mode (Nepali/English/Sanskrit), light/dark mode, and "My Patro" personalization settings.

You may choose not to provide certain information; however, some features may not function without required inputs.

2.2 Information Generated Through Use of the Service

• Saved horoscope outputs
• Saved kundali charts and generated results
• Saved matching results
• Saved "My Patro" configurations and preferences

This data exists so you can access your saved content across sessions.

2.3 Information Automatically Collected (Limited Technical Data)

• IP address (security, fraud prevention, abuse control)
• Browser type and version
• General device and operating system information
• Date/time of access
• Basic server logs for website stability and security

Important: We do not use Google Analytics and do not run third-party advertising trackers.

3. Purpose of Use of Information

• To provide Service features, including Panchanga calculations (Tithi, Lagna, Ghadi, Pala, Subha Sait), Rashifal, Kundali, Muhurta, festival listings, and planetary positions.
• To personalize your experience, including saved data, language, location, and "My Patro" settings.
• To operate accounts and authenticate users, including login, session management, and account communications.
• To maintain security and reliability, including abuse detection, debugging, and performance improvements.
• To meet legal obligations under applicable laws of Nepal and lawful requests.

We do not use personal or astrology data for advertising purposes.

4. No Advertising, No Analytics, No Data Selling

• We do not display third-party advertisements.
• We do not use Google Analytics.
• We do not sell, rent, trade, or commercially share user data.
• We do not allow third-party advertising pixels or behavioral profiling tools.

5. Sharing of Information With Third Parties

We do not share personal information with third parties except in limited circumstances below.

5.1 Service Providers (Data Processors)

We may use trusted providers for hosting, server security, email delivery, or database management. Providers process limited data only under our instructions and only to support operation of the Service.

We do not authorize providers to use your data for their own marketing or independent purposes.

5.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information when required by applicable laws of Nepal or lawful court/authority orders.

5.3 Institutional Transfer

If the Service is transferred due to restructuring, merger, institutional succession, or lawful assignment, user data may be transferred to the successor entity subject to continued protection consistent with this Policy.

6. Storage, Retention, and Account Deletion

6.1 Retention Period

We keep information only as long as necessary to provide the Service, unless longer retention is legally required.

6.2 Deletion of Account and Data

When you delete your account, the following are permanently deleted:

• Name and email associated with the account (except minimal records if required by law)
• Stored kundali data and generated charts
• Saved horoscope outputs
• Kundali matching records
• Muhurta results (if saved)
• "My Patro" personalization settings

Deletion is permanent and irreversible.

6.3 Residual Technical Logs

For security and operational integrity, limited server logs may remain briefly. These are not used to recreate deleted personal or kundali content, and are not sold or used for advertising.

• Secure hosting environments
• HTTPS encryption in transit
• Secure password hashing practices
• Restricted administrative access
• Routine monitoring for suspicious access and abuse
• Access controls to protect stored data

No online system is 100% secure; however, we take security seriously and work to reduce risk.

8. International Access and Data Location

The Service is operated from Nepal. If you access the Service from outside Nepal, your information may be processed and stored in Nepal or in secure server locations used for hosting and security purposes.

9. Your Rights and Requests

Subject to applicable laws, you may request:

• Access to personal information associated with your account
• Correction of inaccurate information
• Deletion of your account and associated personal and astrology data
